Note:
One of the leaders in the large format graphics trend in Cape Dorset, Pitsiulak passed away at the young age of 49 and arguably during the height of his artistic career. Trained in jewelry making, photography and having tried his hand at carving, it was his drawings in particular that made him “one of the most sought-after contemporary Inuit artists”. As a hunter he had an intimate knowledge of wildlife and the natural world, which served as inspiration for his drawings. For more information, see Andrew Hunter, Tim Pitsiulak: Stories of What Lies Beneath, Inuit Art Quarterly, Fall 2017, pages 64-69.
